Cancun is home to a vast array of eco-tours. According to the Cancun Convention and Visitors Bureau, ecotourists are “travelers who have an inherent appreciation for the natural world and combine it with their love for travel.” Cancun’s prime location and host of wildlife make it an ideal spot for ecotourists to pursue their interests.

Eco-tourism sites in and around Cancun include:
Mangroves and Forest Jungle Tours, Coral reefs area form Isla Mujeres, Isla Contoy and Cozumel Island, the Bigest American Coral Reef Barrier with a lot of diferent areas for to dive or to snorkeling throught the Riviera Maya, Rio Lagartos, Croco Cun, all the “Cenotes” and Caverns, Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve, Chancanaab National Park in Cozumel Island, jungle zip lines at serveal locations in Riviera Maya, Xcaret, Xel-ha, etc.

Jungle tours are conducted through the dense mangrove forests just outside Cancun. From Cancun the snorkels can enjoy the wildlife native in the reef of Punta Nizuc, there are other options available for snorkeling and diving at Isla Mujeres, Cancun or Puerto Morelos, Akumal and Cozumel. Sian Ka’an serves as home for over 345 species of birds, all of the endangered cat species (jaguar, puma, ocelot, and margay), spider monkeys, crocodiles, manatees, and various types of sea turtles. Isla Contoy is an island just a short boat ride from Isla Mujeres and is an undisturbed natural habitat for birds such as the pelican and egret. Croco Cun is a large crocodile farm that is open to the public, In Yucatan Penisnula there is a wonderfull subterranean world of a complex net of underground rivers and caverns to invite you to have a real ecological not comun experiece….
